Frequently Asked Questions about CCAF

Why was the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation Formed?

Federal, state and local funding for education is constantly being cut. Before Canyon Crest opened its doors, for example, the government had already cut 15.5% of the overall budget! Educational Foundations help to close that gap. California schools, by law, may not require fees from students to make up any shortfall in the budget, so without the money provided by the CCAF, sports, the arts, and many academic programs at CCA would be great curtailed. The CCA Foundation helps raise money through various fundraising activities, works together with the community to identify partners, and works with CCA Families to ensure parents have an opportunity to share in the success of their children's education.

When does the Foundation Board meet and can I attend?

Foundation Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 AM in the Teacher's Lounge. All meetings are open and you are welcome to attend and get involved. See our Documents and Calendar page or our Board Positions page for more details.

What does money raised by the Foundation fund?

Each year the administration and the staff of CCA jointly determine the funding priorities for the coming year. In order to equitably benefit every student, these priorities are based on the needs of each discipline within the school. For the 2007-8 school year, the CCAF Board has started a Designated Giving program. Also see our President's Message for more budget details.

How much of my donation actually goes to educational programs?

The Canyon Crest Academy Foundation is all volunteer based and our administrative expenses are low. While some donation money must go to support Foundation expenses, these costs are kept as low as possible. If you are interested in further information on the specifics of these expenses, please contact our Treasurer, Donna Close.

I am a parent and would like to help CCA. How can I get involved?

There are many opportunities for involvement and the school actively seeks parent participation in a wide variety of roles. Please visit our volunteer page for more information.
