CARMEL VALLEY (SAN DIEGO), CA – Canyon Crest Academy’s Envision, the Arts at CCA and the CCA Foundation present FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS 2009 on Saturday, February 7 from 11:00am to 5:00pm at the Morgan Run Club & Resort in Rancho Santa Fe. The one-day festival will showcase the impressive talent of students enrolled in CCA’s visual, performing, and digital arts with a spectacular variety of exhibits and performances. Five amazing raffle prizes will be given away at the event, including a Disneyland trip for four, one-on-one Eureka SAT tutoring, the ultimate day spa at Morgan Run, DJ service for a teen party with TweenTime Entertainment, and a Nintendo Wii.

As Festival goers enjoy the top-notch entertainment, they can also visit Painter’s Pavilion to savor the delicious assortment of foods specially prepared by Morgan Run's Executive Chef Rodney Fry. Kicking the day’s events up another notch will be well-known artists and musicians from the local San Diego art scene. In addition, Susan deVincent, KyXy Morning Show host and proud CCA parent, will make a special guest appearance. DeVincent will be the Mistress of Ceremonies at the Foundation’s annual Gala on April 24, 2009 at The Grand Del Mar.
Staged throughout the Morgan Run property, the Festival will include an Art Gallery, featuring 270 works of art created by CCA Envision and Conservatory students and available for sale. The art has been produced under the direction of Julie Rais, an Art teacher in CCA’s Digital/Fine Arts (D/FA) department. Cinema Showcase will run an all-day original production as well as five film screenings by CCA Film Conservatory students directed by Mark Raines, a Multimedia teacher in the D/FA department. Music on the Green will encompass several open-air concerts by CCA’s very own Jazz Band and Jazz Combos, led by Amy Villanova, the Program Coordinator for Instrumental Music and band instructor.
Theater Cove will include performances of “Romeo and Juliet” and “The History of Us” presented by CCA’s award-winning dance students under the leadership of Tracy Yates, CCA Envision Director and dance instructor. Theater Cove will also present encore performances of excerpts from recently “sold out” theater shows led by Michael Schwartz, CCA’s Theater Program Coordinator and drama teacher. Students enrolled in CCA Vocal Music will also be performing under the direction of instructor Anne Whattoff.
Admission and raffle tickets can be purchased online at www.canyoncrestfoundation.org. Admission tickets will also be sold at the door ($5 for students and $10 for adults) and raffle tickets will be available inside the venue. The event is open to the public.
