Dear Canyon Crest Academy Parents and Friends,
Canyon Crest Academy Foundation would like to take this opportunity to wish you
a very Happy New Year. We also would like to thank all of the parents and families
who donated during our 100K in 100 Days campaign that concluded in December.
We are pleased to report that more than $150,000 was contributed, which is about
one-fourth of our annual budget.
The economic downturn has affected all of us. Because of these circumstances, the
need for your continued support is more critical than ever. At calendar year-end,
we were $85,000 below last year’s fundraising levels. At the same time, the school
district has informed us that it is cutting $4 million from the district budget in this
current school year.
In simplest terms, fi nancial support from the Foundation impacts every aspect of our
children’s education at CCA. Here are some of the areas that the Foundation funded
so far this year:
• Envision teaching artists
• Digital and Fine Arts supplies
• Athletic trainers and assistant coaches
• Athletic uniforms and equipment
• Equipment and technology across all academic programs
• College and career counseling materials and training
I am concerned that we are falling behind our annual fundraising targets, so I appeal
to you to give to the Foundation today. Enclosed is a donor envelope, please take a
moment to fi ll it out and mail it with your donation or pledge. You may also donate
online at www.canyoncrestfoundation.org.
The quality of our children’s education is what brings us together, and our kids need
our support now more than ever. Through online donations, corporate matching gifts,
eScrip sign ups, participation in fundraising events, and volunteering at school, you
can help us maintain and grow the outstanding programs that make Canyon Crest
Academy one of San Diego’s premier high schools.
Sincerely,
Mark Mimnaugh
