President's Message
August 2012
Dear CCA Families,
Helping our kids realize their dreams. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
Your child may be an athlete, actor, singer, dancer, musician or cinematographer. Maybe they have a love for learning. No matter their skills or interests, the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation is committed to helping your child - our students - succeed.
I’m Chuck Flacks, president of the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, and I welcome you to the 2012-2013 academic year of Canyon Crest Academy.
We thank all of our wonderful CCA families and friends for their donations to the CCA Foundation last year. Because of you, funds donated in 2011-12 gave our students the financial support to achieve great things in academics, arts, and athletics.
CCA’s Foundation formed nine years ago as a non-profit, parent volunteer organization dedicated to realizing CCA’s educational programs and priorities through financial, volunteer and community support.
Now, in the 2012-13 school year, CCA and the Foundation need YOUR support more than ever.
CCA’s 2012-2013 budget is not unlike those of the past three years. Our school continues to face ongoing challenges of a significant gap between funds available and funds needed to keep our programs and school on top. Therefore, we turn to you, returning and new CCA parents, to help us bridge that gap – with donations to the CCA Foundation to meet our Academics, Athletics, and Envision Arts program needs.
In 2012, Newsweek ranked Canyon Crest Academy as the 97th best high school in the United States. That is a remarkable achievement for a school less than a decade old. You already know the vast array of opportunities at CCA, and the awards and honors our children have received. Let me stress that your donations, and the donations of CCA families like yours, are the cornerstone of our ability to enable EVERY student at CCA to realize their dreams.
Our financial goal for the 2012-2013 academic year is to raise more than $900,000 to bridge the gap between public funding and CCA’s needs. The $900,000 will enable our school to continue to offer the exceptional educational opportunities that are the hallmark of CCA.
Our goal is reached family by family but it applies to all our children. I ask for your donation NOW as we begin our school year. Funds donated now can jumpstart our programs, help our teachers and staff plan for the entire year, and set our students on the path to success.
You can contribute directly to your child’s specific “dream” or to the general Foundation fund. Remember, district funds only teachers – technology refreshes, counseling resources, STEM and QUEST programs, coaches, and guest artists at CCA can only happen with donations to the Foundation. And it’s easy to donate by check, credit card, or online at www.canyoncrestfoundation.org.
Won’t you help our children realize their dreams?
Sincerely,
Chuck Flacks
Canyon Crest Academy Foundation President
