Robert Haley, Superintendent, SDUHSD’s Message on May 22, 2020:
Subject: Superintendent’s Update - School Closure and Reopening
Dear San Dieguito Union High School District Community,
This was not the spring semester for the 2019-20 school year we envisioned when we opened our schools last August. The closure of our schools in March was heartbreaking and presented all of us with unprecedented challenges. We are now approaching the end of this school year and we are planning our end of year activities and we want to make them as special for our students as we can. Each school will be communicating with students and families on those activities.
We are planning for a return to school for students on Tuesday, August 25th. Our priority is to ensure that our students and staff members can confidently return to a safe and healthy environment that is conducive to learning and work. Therefore, we are developing a variety of possible models of learning which are meant to be flexible, adaptable, and adhere to health standards and physical distancing protocols, as required at the time. As we plan for how best to meet the needs of our students in the upcoming school year, we would like to get some initial input from parents and families so there is a link to a Thought Exchange survey near the bottom of this email, which will provide one way for us to get some feedback to inform our planning. We continue to schedule meetings with our students and parent representatives as another way for us to inform our planning.
