The evening starts at 6:00 PM in the Main Quad area with a welcome speech from Principal Brian Köhn four quick 10-minute sessions in your child's classrooms. Be sure to bring a copy of their schedule, available on the Aeries Parent Portal. If are unable to print the schedule, copies will be available on site (arrive early if you need a schedule!) Annual Appeal 2009-10

September 2009

Dear Canyon Crest Academy Families,

Canyon Crest Academy’s innovative programs and expansive curriculum, under the direction of Principal Brian Köhn and his outstanding staff of teaching professionals, have made CCA one of the top high schools in San Diego County in five short years. This would not have been possible without the ongoing financial support of Canyon Crest families like yours.

The CCA Foundation is a nonprofit, parent volunteer organization dedicated to realizing CCA’s educational programs and priorities through financial, volunteer and community support. Our primary objective is fundraising. Unfortunately, it seems that each year the gap between public funding and CCA’s actual needs widens. This year, the Foundation’s goal is to raise $600,000 so that CCA can continue to offer the high caliber and wide variety of academics, arts and athletics programming for which the school is known.

Here are just a few examples of what Foundation donations have paid for:

  • Guest teaching artists including photographers, dancers, musicians, graphic designers and other professionals for Envision day classes and Conservatory
  • Assistant coaches and trainers for all 21 CIF sports
  • Campus improvements such as The Raven’s Nest
  • Team uniforms, sports equipment and pool rental
  • Support for theatrical productions including costumes, sheet music, props and other needs
  • Computers and software for classrooms and the media center
  • Lab equipment, computers and supplies for science classes
  • World language lab equipment
  • Math and language tutoring available free to all students
  • More than $50,000 of books and resource materials for the media center

Beginning this year, you can select from among seven different giving categories and direct your contribution to a specific Envision discipline or athletic team. We are asking every family that has a student enrolled in Envision day classes or Conservatory, or who plays a CIF sport, to cover the cost of their student in that program.

Please visit the Foundation’s website at www.canyoncrestfoundation.org for more information on giving categories, contributing online, volunteer opportunities, and other programs and events.

Lastly, we’ve enclosed a campus map that you may find useful for Back to School Night, Wednesday, September 23rd.

Sincerely, Bob Nascenzi
President, Canyon Crest Academy Foundation

P.S. Please give generously, to the best of your ability. Your dollars make the difference in the caliber of education for every CCA student and, remember, donations of $2,500 or more qualify for recognition on our Legacy Wall.

Welcome to Envision, July 2009

Envision, the arts at CCA

Summer 2009

Welcome to Envision: The Arts at CCA!

We are anticipating another exciting year of arts education at CCA. For the 2009-2010 school year, Envision: The Arts at CCA will again offer more than 45 elective classes during the school day as well as the after school Conservatory in six disciplines: Cinema, Dance, Digital/Fine Art, Instrumental Music, Theatre, and Vocal Music.

In order to continue offering this extraordinary breadth of electives and our extensive Artist in Residence Program, for Envision day classes and Conservatory, we are asking every family with a student enrolled in Envision to contribute financial support to the Program. Our expectation is that every family will cover the cost of their child’s participation. This year, in response to parent request and the need to self-fund classes, you should specifically designate your contribution to one or more of the six disciplines of Envision.

Attached is a list of all of the Envision classes that will be offered each term, along with the cost per student per term to participate. Please note which classes your student will be taking and stop by the Envision table during Raven Readiness Days to make your contribution. Payments will also be accepted online at www.canyoncrestfoundation.org and by mail.

We are very proud of Envision and the amazing student artists in our program. Please consider the idea that your contribution makes a clear statement about the value your family places on arts education and the CCA Envision family.

Sincerely,
Beth Mercer
