Refreshed Policy for Designating Your Donation

Dear Raven’s Family or Community,

For almost 20 years, CCA Foundation has offered a designated giving program, allowing donors the opportunity to direct their donation to a specific program or team/discipline. This donation structure allowed 75% of the donation to go to a specific team/discipline, while the remaining 25% supported the General Fund the Donor designated; Athletics, STEM or Envision program. For example, a $100 donation to girls soccer would allocate $75 to the team and $25 to the larger Athletics Fund – for investments that benefit all CCA athletes. While most supporters continue to give generously to the unrestricted Raven’s Fund, many CCA donors value the ability to designate to their program of choice.

This highly successful donation framework enabled the Foundation to fund significant improvements across all programs, including projects that would be far too costly for one team to fund. It also helped prevent a “pay to play” environment ensuring that student participation is based on talent, dedication, and work ethic – not ability to donate. CCA has become one of the best schools in the state, with award winning programs in Athletics, STEM, and the Arts partially as a result of the Foundation’s ability to continually invest in upgrading program equipment and facilities, as well as field teams with high achieving students.

POLICY UPDATE: The CCA Foundation Board of Directors (composed of CCA Parent Volunteers) believes in regular assessment of policies to ensure we are best meeting the evolving needs of CCA students. At the May 2025 meeting, the Board voted to update the designated giving policy. The new policy will give donors the ability to designate 80% of their donation to a specific team/discipline, with 20% going to the General Fund of the discipline; Athletic, STEM or Envision program.

Additionally, teams will keep 100% of funds earned from fundraisers that do not generate tax receipts, for example the Athletics Holiday Greenery fundraiser.

The Foundation is grateful to continue to partner with our community to enrich every student’s experience at CCA, and support continuing success and opportunity for our talented students. The designated giving policy updates will be effective beginning July, 1, 2025.

Key Points on CCA Foundation’s Updated Designated Giving:

  • Donors can choose to designate their donation to a specific team/discipline or donate to the unrestricted Raven’s Fund.
  • Beginning July 1, 2025, 80% of each designated donation will go to the team/discipline selected, 20% will go to the general fund of that discipline.
      • Example: for a $100 donation to Volleyball, $80 will go to the team, $20 to the Athletics Program for improvements that benefit all athletes.
  • The Raven’s Fund will continue to fund school ‘big ideas’ and other priorities that benefit all students at CCA.
